Scotland has been luring filmmakers for decades with its varied and lush landscapes. USA Today even named Scotland as the Best Cinematic Destination for 2015. It that wasn’t enough to have you breaking out your kilt, then perhaps the announcement of a new incentive scheme will.
Recently the Scottish government announced its commitment to supporting the screen-sector growth, by creating a Production Growth Fund in the amount of $2.7 million. The fund is meant to lure more film and TV projects into the country.
The fund, announced by Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop, is designed to stimulate growth in film and TV production by providing an additional incentive for major international productions to come to Scotland. The government is also increasing funding for local Scottish productions. The fund will run through the year 2017 and is available to both international co-productions, and Scottish-based crews, facilities and production companies.
